Anne Godsey

Anne is a native Californian and lifetime artist. In her artwork she focuses on everyday objects, studying the shapes and spaces that are created by these objects when edges meet and lines cross in the confined area of her canvas. The negative spaces within and around the subject matter are as interesting to her as the actual objects themselves. It is the actual balancing of these spaces, colors and textures that creates the composition and brings the painting to life.

Anne studied art during her undergraduate work at San Diego State University and continued her studies, receiving her master’s in art at California State University San Jose.  During her 19 years of teaching art at the high school level in the San Francisco Bay Area and at the American School in London, she received several top awards which included: Alameda County Teacher of the Year, California Exemplary Art Program, and one of ten National Innovative Art Teacher awards presented by The Smithsonian, National Geographic, and State Farm Insurance.  She served on the California State Council for Art Education for three years, and on State conference committees for 5 years.

Having recently spent three years teaching and studying art in Europe, she brings home new inspirations and new directions to her painting. Her studio, which she recently designed and completed, contains her current concentration of personal artwork.
